Every number comes from a model

Twenty-one model services, each with a stated purpose, a documented method, a version and a status. EDIS is the gateway into them; it does not duplicate them, and it does not substitute for them when they are unavailable.

Layer 01

Macroeconomic and fiscal

FINEX, MTEF, CDCGE, the Budget Output Engine, UCSN and PIAS. The envelope, the ceilings, the economy-wide closure, the costing spine and the appraisal system.

Layer 02

Sector models

Agriculture, health, education, energy, transport, trade, industry, minerals, water and digital infrastructure — each priced through the same unit-cost library.

Layer 03

Cross-cutting

Poverty microsimulation, GIS and spatial planning, climate risk, demography and the monitoring, evaluation and learning framework.

Status system

Users must be able to tell whether a result is reliable

Validated

Calibrated, tested against historical data and reviewed. Results are usable for policy analysis.

Ready

Available to run for the country and scenario requested, with all required data present.

Partial

Runs, but with reduced coverage or a component held fixed. Limitations are stated on every result.

Data missing

A required dataset is absent for this country or year. EDIS reports this rather than substituting a proxy.
