Data first
No model executes against an unverified dataset. Every dataset in EDIS carries provenance, metadata, a quality score, a version, an update history and licensing information — and every number the platform displays can be traced back to it.
The development data system
EDIS does not replace national statistical or administrative systems. It makes their information usable together, for integrated decisions, without moving custody of the data.
Economic and fiscal
National accounts, balance of payments, price indices, fiscal accounts, budget estimates, execution reports, debt register, revenue statistics, social accounting matrices and input–output tables.
Social and household
Population census and projections, household surveys, labour force surveys, demographic and health surveys, education management information, health facility and service data.
Infrastructure and spatial
Administrative boundaries, settlement and population grids, road inventories and traffic counts, generation and grid layers, water points, facility registers, broadband coverage, project locations.
Environment and risk
Rainfall and temperature series, climate projections, hazard and exposure layers, soil and land use, emissions inventories, commodity price series.
Every dataset is scored before it is used
A dataset enters the platform through a registration step. Until it passes, no model that depends on it can be marked ready for the country and year concerned.
- Provenance — custodian, collection method, reference period
- Licensing — what may be redistributed, and to whom
- Coverage — geographic and temporal completeness
- Consistency — reconciliation against related series
- Currency — how recent, and how often it is updated
- Quality score — recorded, versioned and shown to the user
| Dataset | Custodian | Year | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| National household survey | National statistics office | 2019/20 | Validated |
| Approved estimates and BFP | Finance ministry | 2024/25 | Validated |
| Health facility master list | Health ministry | 2024 | Validated |
| Social accounting matrix | EDIS | 2022 | Validated |
| Road inventory and condition | Roads authority | 2023 | Partial |
| Broadband coverage layers | Communications regulator | — | Data missing |

The record attached to every figure
No numerical answer appears without this record. It is what makes a result defensible in a budget committee, a board paper or a peer review.

Government data stays where it belongs
Under a government licence, institutional data can be integrated into a private workspace. That data is isolated to the organisation, is never used to answer another organisation’s question, and every access is recorded in the audit trail.
- Organisation-scoped storage and permissions
- Private workspaces with audit trails
- Cross-organisation isolation enforced and tested
- Configurable retention and export controls
- No private dataset is exposed through the public site or the demonstration
What is public stays public
Published indicators, selected dashboards and the reports library are available without an account, and the model documentation and technical manuals can be downloaded from Resources.
